Come see and hear about the creative thinking that goes into the design of some of the most iconic labeling and packaging of two legendary beer lines — Flying Dog Ale and Rogue Brewery — and enjoy delicious samples of six of their most popular brews. Speakers include:

• Penny Muire, owner/designer of Medusa Design, who creates labeling and packaging artwork for Rogue Brewery

• Ben Savage of Flying Dog, who has worked with acclaimed illustrator Ralph Steadman to create Flying Dog's edgy look

In addition to hearing the speakers' war stories of what it takes to design beer labels, attendees will enjoy a variety of free swag, giveaways, and free food as you mingle and meet with friends and others in the creative community.

Held at the happenin' IRON HORSE TAPROOM near the Verizon Center, this event will surely sell out — so register today!

Time is running out to get your entries in for

Illustrators 54 in New York


Accepting entries through

October 28th, 2011

Works selected by the juries will be shown at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators, 128 East 63rd Street, from January 4 to March 17, 2012.

The entire show will be presented in full color in Illustrators 54, "America's Original Annual of Illustration." A selection of 40 works will tour US colleges through June 2013, the 32nd educational traveling exhibition.

Comic Strips & Culture 1895-1950




The unique exhibition, designed by graduate students at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C., features such classics as Krazy Kat, Blondie, Pogo and Peanuts and was inspired by Associate Professor of Communication Robert Lemieux’s quest to educate the public about the cultural and historical relevance of the Sunday funnies. See original, hand-drawn panels and early newsprint pieces on loan from The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at Ohio State University.
